Ren won first place in the Odyssey Track at NUS Enterprise's N-House Pitch Night 2026, hosted at Workato Singapore.
Winning a pitch competition is validating, but a trophy is just an evening event. What happened in the four months leading up to the night matters much more to us.
Moving into real classrooms
Between January and May, Ren shifted from an early prototype into day-to-day software used in real schools:
- 12 institutional deployments. Active pilots across Singapore secondary schools, junior colleges, and university courses.
- 5,000 active students. Over 50 teachers regularly use Ren to mark homework, essays, and exam papers.
- Commercial contracts. We onboarded our first paying institutional partners, with more deployments scheduled for the coming term.
That day-to-day classroom usage is what counts. Having a teacher log in on a Sunday evening to mark forty assignments and tell us it saved them two hours is why we work on this.
How it started
A year ago, Ren was just an idea drafted in a study cubicle at NUS Business School (BIZ1). In our first semester, we built the initial prototype, won N-House Pitch Night 2025 at EnterpriseSG, and received the NUS Enterprise 10K VIP Grant.
Back then, we served roughly 600 students across a handful of trial classes. Today, our cohort is nearly ten times that size. That growth came directly from teachers who took a chance on an unproven tool, gave us brutal feedback when features failed, and helped us refine the product into something dependable.
What we are building
Ren is built around the idea that feedback should be continuous and actionable, not locked away in end-of-term reports.
When a teacher marks an assignment in Ren, the platform does not just calculate a grade. It tags specific conceptual errors, maps them against curriculum standards, and flags students who need extra help before exams arrive. Every suggestion is calibrated to the school's own rubrics, and teachers review and approve all feedback before students see it.
